"Jeff, It's a pleasure to give my feed back. I am still only at stage 1. But I am getting up at 6:10 am every morning and practicing 2 exercises taught in the Dynamic Power Breathing e-book. First one is to stand in front of a mirror, exhale, bend in the waist, put hands on the thies and pull your stomach in as much as you can.
"I just turned 50 and while I have been exercising for most of my life, I was in a rut and knew that I needed some guidance on how to best change my routine to meet the challenges of an over 50 year old body.
I have been meeting with Jeff for almost a year and with his knowledge and support I am more flexible and stronger than I was in my 20s. Jeff never talks about what you can’t do only what you can and it is that kind of attitude that makes me want to try harder. I would recommend him to anyone that has a desire to start a new exercise regime or jump start an old one."
"I would like to share my personal training experiences with Jeff. His training style and delivery makes it very enjoyable and infomative. I have gained flexibilty and used muscles I never knew I had. I have gained a wealth of knowledge in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that I can employ with my career as a Police Officer. Jeff is a true asset to the BJJ and personal fitness domain. Great job Jeff keep up the good work... ."
"Jeff, as a Masters endurance athlete, I have seen a slow drop in my race times and experienced an increase in soreness post my harder training runs. Over the last couple of months, I have been amazed at the progress I have made on many fronts.
I believe I have already become a much more efficient runner. I have seen an increase in my speed, my recovery post workouts has been much better and I feel overall stronger as an athlete. I can't wait to see the continued results over the next 4-6 months. I can't thank you enough. My goal is to remain competitive as a runner for a long time, and I believe your training approach will be a key to my doing so."
I was a bit apprehensive about today's match because my heel was quite sore after the massage yesterday...especially after you put that 'cortisone shot ' (smile) right smack into the bottom of my heel!!!!
"Jeff, I have been using Dynamic Power Breathing a little, but my wife has had the greatest benefit from it...she is up to running 4 miles continuously now (in 30 minutes), after not being able to run even a mile a month ago. She loves it! Thanks!"
"Great session. Came in with an open mind to the experience and was blown away. Definitely not a relaxing experience. If you want to lie there and have someone rub on you then choose a different massage. It was hard work but after my first session I am convinced it is well worth the effort. I had pain in my hip for two weeks, after the first session there is no pain in the hip. There is a lot of general soreness and some tightness that was causing the pain but that tells me I worked hard and the session was a huge success. Jeff was great at explaining what we were doing and why, everything he said made perfect sense. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone serious about improving their body."
Thanks. You’ve given me a way to kick my own $ss. I need this, and I’m loving it. I’m really flushing a lot of crap out and it feels GOOOOD to purify this way!"
My name is Lilianna Fernandez. I'm a 17 year old elite-triathlete. I just recently competed in age group nationals in Vermont and qualified for World Championships next September in London! The excitement of this accomplishment can only be expressed because of Jeff Wooten and Mary Wire.
"Thank you Jeff! Once again, I apologize for the keeping you at the Gym so late Wednesday, but when my mind is set on a problem, I am determined to solve it. You have really answered my question with this article. This gives me the perseverance to keep pushing myself, and that's all I needed. 'Suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, and character produces hope.' That's the one really hit home. I don't expect a reply, because I know you are busy. I will see you Monday, and have an awesome weekend."
"I have known and worked out with Jeff Wooten for almost 18 years. I have seen him progress from martial arts student to martial arts instructor, fitness instructor, and massage therapist. No matter what endeavor Jeff undertakes, he is driven to succeed and meticulous in studying the subject, setting goals, and meeting goals.
From studying anatomy to aid in his understanding of “chin-na” (joint locks and pressure points) to reading the latest in fitness thought, Jeff breaks down each subject into its component parts until he understands the concepts at the basic level and rebuilds it to give him a clear picture of the discipline he’s studying. This gives him the ability to truly know a subject and to apply those principles to other disciplines, such as using Hung Gar techniques combined with power yoga to increase flexibility and conditioning or to using anatomy, science, and his own experiences to debunk fitness myths. In addition to living what he preaches, Jeff has the unique ability to bring out the most in people he works out with. He’s one of the few individuals I’ve had the pleasure to work out with that can push you to your physical limits and feel good doing it. A fantastic martial artist, both in Hung Gar and Jiu Jitsu, a superb massage therapist, and talented fitness trainer, Jeff is the one person I trust when it comes to designing and implementing fitness goals and training."
"I have trained with Jeff Wooten for the past two years. During that time, the benefits from that training have transformed from increased lean muscle, strength, flexibility, and endurance, into a lifestyle, one that is driven by a desire to be as healthy as possible.
Adopting an active and healthy lifestyle relieves you from having to continuously pose the question to yourself of 'whether to work out.' Instead, life and the way you live it naturally includes a variety of ways to stay healthy, including regular and rigorous physical activity and conditioning. Jeff's training prepares you to adopt this lifestyle and puts you in charge of it. If I were to name three strengths Jeff brings to his work, they would be his ability to connect to his diverse clients identifying and building upon their strengths and working through whatever mental or physical challenges they face; his superior knowledge about how the body and mind work; and his ability to develop and engender a long-term commitment in his clients to take charge of and improve their health."
"I've been exercising regularly for years but had hit a plateau in my training. I had really lost my motivation because I was not getting trim, toned, and strong.
However, I started training with Jeff only one month ago and have already seen results! I've seen improvements in my strength, flexibility, and muscle tone in just a short time. I feel so energized after each class. I know I still have a lot of room for improvement and so much more to learn, but I look forward to this process. Jeff is so encouraging in class, but even outside of class, his promotion of an overall healthy lifestyle has motivated me to eat healthier than I was before!"
"Jeff, I really enjoyed your article on efitness, as a personal trainer and yoga studio owner/teacher I really felt it was right on the money. So many fitness tips are just the same old thing and they never push anyone. As a yoga teacher I am always expecting students to go the extra mile and ask more of themselves, your article was a breath of fresh air. Thank you!"
"I’ve tried for years to find an exercise program that I liked and could stick with, and with Jeff, 'The Body Mechanic', I finally did! In December 2007, I began actively working with Jeff to become a runner, my desired form of exercise because I can do it anywhere/anytime and with my dogs on a regular basis.
When we started, like I have many times, I was just sure that I’d never be very effective. However, due to Jeff’s highly positive, motivational, goal-oriented approach, in record time I reached my goal of running 30 minutes without stopping!! Thanks Jeff for helping me make this possible in my life. At almost 50, I feel better and look better than I have in years and I have every intention of keeping it up!!"
"I have been training in one form or another for most of my life, and I’ve never run across a work out like Jeff’s. After a year of classes, my flexibility has increased dramatically, as has my general muscle tone. Any time Jeff is running a workout, I know I am going to leave everything I have out on the mat. On the Jujitsu side, Jeff is a patient instructor and a knowledgeable teacher. He takes his time explaining each step of a lesson and is very organized in his progressions. He always brings energy to spare and his positive attitude is as consistent as it is contagious.
I’ve found his knowledge of the body and its workings to be integral in preventing injury. Practicing a vigorous, physical activity two to three times a week, I still have never suffered an injury in Jeff’s jujitsu class. That alone is nothing short of amazing."
"Jeff's multi-discipline approach to fitness training fusing elements of Yoga with modern training principles combined with his own experience and formal study of human physiology has been of great benefit to me.
I believe his training has enabled me to continue participating in JiuJitsu at an age (39) where the majority of my training partners are 10-20 years younger."
"Training with Jeff has been a life changing experience. He not only trains your body, but also your mind and spirit. For many years I have wanted to get in really good shape. Trying various classes and trainers proved unsuccessful for me. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the exercise programs and therefore lacked commitment.
Then I started going to Jeff’s Dynamic Power Training classes and was hooked. Several months later I began my personal training journey with Jeff. His methods are unique, fun and effective. To say that Jeff is creative is an understatement. He has an endless repertoire of exercises that focus on functional fitness which improve strength, flexibility and endurance.
With his positive approach, Jeff trains his clients to celebrate success and overcome failures with equal enthusiasm. Jeff delivers anecdotal analogies pertinent to his client’s frame of mind and motivation. He truly exercises the whole person, mind, body and spirit. My comfort and my confidence in everyday life are much stronger.
Jeff’s holistic fitness program has helped me break through barriers I never knew existed. This is an incredible journey! After getting in this kind of shape, I never want to go back.
"Jeff is truly ‘the body mechanic’. My stretching sessions with him have helped tremendously with my flexibility, and his massage therapy has helped to alleviate a lot of my neck pain. I bought my first session through one of those group purchases, but I am now a regular client."
"I had issues with my Blood pressure, flexibility and endurance. After 3 months training with Jeff I see drastic overall changes. My Blood Pressure is back to normal 108 /74 and my digestion has improved dramatically, which is amazing.
"Jeff is my lead instructor for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I am a police officer in my 17th year and am the lead defensive tactics instructor for my agency. One of the side effects of being a police officer for this long is that I am very careful in who I trust, I suppose I am a little cynical.
The reason I'm telling you this is that I do not promote or endorse people or things I do not believe in. Jeff Wooten has gained my trust as a person and as an instructor. He is a very genuine person. He truly cares about what he does and would not impose things that do not merit being done. His teaching ability is phenomenal, as he always comes across as if you are the only one in the room. I have taken his breathing technique and power yoga and adapted it to be taught within the police department. Young or old, strong or weak, his techniques will work for you. I strongly encourage you to give his class a try."
"Hi, Jeff. I just started on your breathing techniques and have seen some great results. I have been able to breathe my way through several attacks instead of using my inhaler! Thanks for your help!"
"Jeff, I just wanted to e-mail you and say thanks! Yesterday was of course Easter and I found myself at a friend’s party with of course tons of great foods. My favorite of which was bread dip. I started ediets on December 27, 2005 and have since lost 30 pounds.
I have been working out 5 days a week and eating better. The bread dip was a treat but after I felt so guilty like all my hard work was for nothing, then I come into work and see your article about cheating every once in a while. It really hit home and made me realize I did not sabotage all my efforts, I ate some bread dip. I don’t do it all the time. So thank you for helping me realize I don’t have to beat myself up its ok. You really have no idea how much reading your article helped!!!! Thanks so much."
"Even though I play tennis about 5-6 times / week, I know I need to cross train in order to be as healthy as possible and to perform better on the courts. DPT is the perfect addition to my exercise routine. Not only am I slimming down (lost a couple of pounds this month alone) but I'm stronger and much more flexible. This has translated into much better performance on the courts. In fact yesterday I played in a tennis tournament which included 4.5 hours of playing time on the courts THEN went to the DPT class at 5 pm. Only a couple of months ago, I couldn't do a class and play a match in the same day. Now, I'm much more fit and feel absolutely great.
Every time that I leave a DPT class, I feel great. Not only because I accomplished something but because my body feels flexible and strong. Since re-committing to attend twice per week, I am moving beyond and repairing my old injuries of tennis elbow, achilles issues, and a very old rotator cuff problem. Everyone in the class is always so encouraging. DPT has been the best thing that I've done to improve my tennis all year! Thanks, Jeff for all of the encouragement and interesting and fun classes."
